Motivation is everything! You were motivated this morning to get up because you wanted to:
- Earn some money
- Fulfil a dream
- See someone
- Achieve a task
- Say hello or goodbye
...we often say at this point 'the list is endless!', but it's your list that matters. So, question? What did get you up?
It was not money, we know that! It might have been what money can get you today, tomorrow, next week, next year, but not the money itself. Money can buy objects, fun, freedom, flexibility, some might even argue friends (hmmm!). But it's not the cash itself you usually seek, it's what it can do for you or those you care about.
Motivations change over time, so it's good to keep an eye on why you're doing what you do. It's also good to keep an eye on how much you need when you get up to meet those changing motivations. Even if you don't realise it, you are likely to be planning on how you match your goals to your money, and vice-versa.
You might be an expert in making it happen for you. And if you do it every time, are your goals big enough? But, if like most of us, you sort of nearly make it, or just don't, then have a deeper look at your financial planning and maybe get someone to help you.
